James E. Youker, M.D.
James E. Youker, M.D. is Medical Director and a mammography specialist for Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), a service of Froedtert Hospital.
Dr. Youker received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York and went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine in Buffalo, New York. After an internship with the University of Minnesota, he completed a radiology residency at the University of Minnesota and participated in a pathology residency at Georgetown University. Dr. Youker also conducted a NIH research fellowship in Malmo, Sweden, with the University of Lund.
In the course of his career, he has served at both Milwaukee County Medical Complex and Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, where he is also currently director and chair of their Department of Radiology. Dr. Youker was also medical officer and chief of radiology for the United States Navy, and both an associate and assistant professor of radiology at the Medical College of Virginia and the University of California-San Francisco, where he was a member of the renowned Cardiovascular Research Institute. Other past positions include working in the Department of Cardiology at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, serving Project Hope as a radiologist in Indonesia and being an appointed lecturer with several medical centers, including Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee and VA in San Francisco.
Dr. Youker has received many honors for his outstanding achievements including the Distinguished Service Award from the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Gold Medal from the Association of University Radiologists. His professional affiliations include the American College of Radiology, American Heart Association, Radiological Society of North America and the Society for Cancer Imaging. Dr. Youker is also a member of nine editorial boards including Applied Radiology and Radiology, of which he is the cardiac associate editor. He is a trustee of the American Board of Radiology and president elect of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
