John L. Ulmer, M.D.
John L. Ulmer, M.D. is a radiologist with Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), a service of Froedtert Hospital. He is also a staff radiologist at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and a radiology consultant at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
His current academic appointments include serving the Medical College of Wisconsin as the chief of neuroradiology research, the director of functional magnetic resonance imaging and as an associate professor of radiology. Dr. Ulmer completed his medical degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He served two research fellowships in cellular neurophysiology with the University, a Dean’s Fellowship Award for Medical Student Research and a National Institutes of Health Predoctoral Research Fellowship. Dr. Ulmer went on to complete his residency in diagnostic radiology with Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and later served two fellowships with the University in magnetic resonance imaging and neuroradiology.
In the course of his career, Dr. Ulmer has received many honors for his outstanding achievements by professional affiliations including: two Cornelius G. Dyke Memorial Awards for outstanding research in his field and four Summa/Cum laude Awards for Scientific Exhibit from the American Society of Neuroradiology; the Cum laude Award for Scientific Exhibit from the Radiological Society of North America; the Bronze Medal Award for Scientific Exhibit from the American Roentgen Ray Society; and two Oculoplastics Thesis Finalist Awards from the American Society of Opthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has also published more than 70 articles, chapters and abstracts and has been an invited lector and presenter at more than 50 functions. Dr. Ulmer is also a member of the American College of Radiology, Wisconsin Radiological Society and the American Society of Neuroradiology, of which he is a senior member.
