Interventional radiology procedures are “minimally invasive” because our radiologists guide catheters (narrow small tubes), needles, and/or other small instruments through the blood vessels, spine, or other pathways to treat disease through the skin. Because of this approach, interventional procedures typically mean less pain, risk and recovery time for patients. These procedures are performed by specially trained radiologists who use fluoroscopy (x-ray) or ultrasound to “see” inside the body, which ensures that your procedure is safe and accurate.
